Introduction
CLARA (Conversational Language and Retrieval Agent) is an AI-driven conversational platform designed to improve how users interact with product manuals and technical documentation. 

The idea was born from a simple observation that even in the age of AI, product manuals and technical documentation have largely been left behind. Despite the rapid evolution of intelligent systems, even the most advanced products are still accompanied by documentation that is often difficult to navigate, understand, and use effectively. Manuals are typically long, highly technical, and static. When something does not work, users do not want to read through hundreds of pages. They want a clear answer to their specific question, immediately and in plain language, without having to search for a separate document first. Instead, information should be integrated directly into the product experience. Moreover, printed manuals are frequently discarded shortly after purchase, making them not only inefficient but also environmentally unsustainable. 

At the same time, manufacturers face growing expectations. Customers demand better service, faster support, and seamless digital interaction. Regulatory requirements are increasing, and documentation must be precise, compliant, continuously up to date, and available in multiple languages across different markets. Ensuring accurate translations while maintaining legal consistency adds another layer of complexity. Bridging usability, compliance, and multilingual accessibility has therefore become one of the central challenges in modern product ecosystems.

CLARA — Conversational Language and Retrieval Agent
CLARA was created to address exactly this challenge. Instead of treating manuals and technical documentation as static sources of information, CLARA transforms them into an interactive, conversational experience. By scanning a QR code placed directly on a product, users can instantly access an intelligent assistant and ask their questions in natural language. The system responds based strictly on the official documentation, providing contextual and reliable guidance without replacing the authority of the original material. 
What makes CLARA different is its foundation. It is not a generic chatbot trained on the open internet. It is a structured platform designed specifically for technical documentation. Answers are grounded in real documents. Companies remain in control of how the AI behaves, what it can discuss and how responses are framed. This ensures clarity, consistency and alignment with corporate and regulatory standards.

A key strength of CLARA lies in its European partnership model. The platform is developed by Creative Data in Spain in collaboration with innovethic e.U. in Austria. While Creative Data contributes expertise in AI systems, data platforms and cloud-native software architecture, innovethic brings deep knowledge in technical documentation, engineering standards and regulatory compliance. This collaboration ensures that CLARA is not only technologically advanced but also aligned with real-world industrial and compliance requirements. In September 2025, the CLARA project team met in person in Gijón, Spain, marking the first face-to-face workshop after several weeks of remote collaboration. The meeting brought together members from both organizations to discuss the platform architecture, exchange ideas, and further refine the project’s vision. The workshop provided an excellent opportunity to align technical development, regulatory considerations, and product strategy while strengthening the partnership and building momentum for the next phase of the project.

The result is a solution that combines innovation with responsibility. CLARA enables companies to transform their documentation into a living interface while maintaining control, traceability and compliance. It supports both small manufacturers and large enterprises, adapting to different industries and regulatory environments. Our vision is simple but transformative. Documentation should not be something users struggle with. It should be accessible at the exact moment it is needed. It should be interactive instead of static.
